Cost of CCTV: 12.2k.
We did it! Thank you so so much to everyone who donated. Anything extra that we raise will be spent on projects to further improve Saltdean.
Sadly Saltdean's much-loved Oval Park has seen an increase in anti-social behaviour with benches destroyed, fences damaged, smashed bottles, graffiti, underage drinking and drug taking on a regular basis. You might not have seen this as it is usually cleared up quickly by Saltdean residents and CityParks.
The Police do patrol regularly but can’t be there all the time and so we feel it’s time for a permanent deterrent to be in place. Brighton & Hove City Council (BHCC) has advised that where CCTV is installed anti-social behaviour is much reduced.
BHCC has provided a quote of £12,000 for CCTV which covers:
- the purchase and installation of equipment on a lamp post by the multi-use games area (to south of the tennis courts).
- live monitoring of footage for five years which can be shared with the Police.
Unfortunately BHCC doesn’t have any money to pay for this; the only other park in the city to have CCTV is The Level.
Saltdean Community Association (local charity) and Saltdean Tennis Club have both agreed to contribute to the cost but we still have £8,000 to raise.
Please would you consider chipping in to help protect our park.
This crowdfunder is being done in the name of the Saltdean Community Association, the local charity. This means that every donation that a tax-paying individual makes will have 25% in gift aid added to it. Please tick the box to indicate that gift aid can be included in your donation.
