To enable all club members and visitors to access the bowling green safely. And to ensure the green is sufficiently watered all season.
Crewkerne Bowling Club has been a vital part of the Crewkerne community since 1910. We are a very friendly club welcoming members regardless of age, ethnicity, sexuality or physicality. Our club provides bowling and social activities to around seventy members. There is something for everybody regardless of whether you are new to bowling or an experienced player. We offer coaching as well as the opportunity to play in county leagues and compete for our club trophies.

The reason we are asking for donations is to improve our club facilities by enabling safer access to the green and updating our water storage capabilities to ensure that the green is kept in a good condition throughout the bowling season.
To enable us to complete these projects we need to raise £12,942.
The great news is that Sport England have agreed to pledge £6,471on completion of us acquiring half of the total amount through donations. With your help we are looking to meet our target by May 22nd

These are the two areas where the money spent will be used to improve our club facilities. One is the stairways into the club and down to the green, the other is to install a water storage tank.
We intend to repave the existing steps from the car park to improve the height and width bringing them in line with current building requirements.
Level the area around the seating where spectators watch matches.
Remove the two existing very steep sets of steps and replace them with one shallower flight down to the green.
These improvements will ensure that our members and visitors can safely access the green and viewing area.
This work will be carried out by a local building firm.
Our bowling green is a vital part of our club. It is imperative that it is kept in a good condition as throughout the season it is used almost daily. In order to ensure that the green is adequately watered we need to:
Install a 3000 litre water tank. Move the existing water tank (which is not large enough on it's own to adequately water the green), to make room for an additional tank. Install all the necessary pipework and connect it to a pump.
To cover the cost of both of these projects we need to raise £12,942.

Crewkerne Bowling Club is much more than just a place where people come together to play bowls. Our members meet regularily for a variety of activities including quiz nights and coffee mornings. Bowling enables our members to learn new skills, meet new people and make friends. The health and social benefits of belonging to a club are enormous, helping to keep members physically and mentally fit, as well as providing social contact ensuring that they are not isolated.
