We are a self-funded local charity, made up mostly of a large team of volunteers! Could you help us to upgrade our cattery?
Here at MK RSPCA, we strive to always provide the best for our animals! With the building of our new isolation area and additional 3 cattery pens last year. This highlighted some issues with our original cattery pens, that desperately need renovating to allow us to continue meeting the best standards for the cats in our care.

In 2023 alone, we helped nearly 700 animals. We are a branch committed to helping every animal we possibly can. In the summer of last year, we completed a rescue of 50 cats and kittens from a single street in Milton Keynes. All of this made possible by a team of dedicated volunteers, with our cattery intaking a huge amount of these rescues! And our wonderful fosterers taking the rest.

Our cattery is an invaluable resource for our charity, and has been since it's inception in 2015. The upgrades required to bring these up to an even better standard for the animals are as follows:
- Updated flooring, for better ease of cleaning and health and safety. Currently the floor is tiled, with some of these now starting to crack and making quite a slippery surface on rainy days.

- An upgraded sink area, as the current one has leaked and required mending several times. The leak has caused the unit area to become damp.

- Correct glass windows/covers to be fitted to the outside of the pens, we have currently had to use makeshift covers to help keep the area dry and warmer. This will also help in the winter and summer months with temperature regulation, and reduction of heating bills. Keeping the cats as sheltered as possible on windy and rainy days!

- The new roof will again provide better temperature regulation and cover for the cats. The current roofing struggles to keep the area cooler on warm days.

All of these upgrades will help us to provide an even higher level of care to all of our cats. Cats who majority of the time, have been rescued from dire situations, having spent years on the streets, in neglectful environments. They can finally come into care and enjoy a level of comfort that they so very deserve.
Also, with this area being used by volunteers and visited by the public, it is important that we adhere to the highest health and safety standards. Currently the slippery floors in wet weather (which we have a lot of in the UK!), and tiles beginning to crack pose a health and safety risk.
Here are some photos below of our newer cattery pens and isolation area, to highlight the difference and show the upgrades we are hoping to do with your donations.
