As a local MP I see the good work our foodbanks do; I'm putting my trainers on and doing 'couch to marathon' raising vital funds for them.
I am running the London Marathon 2021 to raise funds for local foodbanks in Fleetwood and in Lancaster. I have witnessed first hand the vital work our local foodbanks are doing and in the past year the demand has gone up.
To give you some idea of the scale of the need; Trussell Trust report that food banks across their UK-wide network provided more than 2.5 million emergency food parcels to people in crisis between 1 April 2020 and 31 March 2021 – of these, more than 980,000 went to children. This represents a 33% increase in the total number of emergency food parcels distributed compared to the previous year and follows year on year increases in need for emergency food.
Before this year I couldn't run for the bus, but with some help from friends and podcasts I am doing 'Couch to Marathon' now. This is possibly one of the most impulsive things I have ever signed up to do - and it's not playing to my strengths - but I am determined to make 26.2 miles to raise as much as I can to fight hunger and poverty in Lancaster and Fleetwood.
Please donate and help me reach my target in aid of Morecambe Bay Foodbank, which will be split with the Fleetwood Foodbank afterwards. Because of the set up of this website I can only have one charity listed, but it will be going to both. Anything you can contribute towards helping me achieve my target will be massively appreciated by individuals and families in North Lancashire and the Fylde Coast.
Thank you.
