Have an Easter party for the children and a Summer Family Fun Day!

Aim

I want to offer local families a preschool that feeds into the primary school; a place for their children to grow & learn through play.

Heartbreakingly the preschool in Fords Farm is having to close, so as of January 2019 there will be no preschool in the centre of Fords Farm.

More than just a playgroup!

My son has always been incredibly shy and self conscious, but something happened...he became confident, his self consciousness diminished and he strode into school in September this year like he'd been there forever.

I have Kennet Valley Pre-School to thank for this amazing change in him, and not just him, so many of the children who currently attend would walk across hot coals to be there (not that us mums have ever tested this, promise!)

So what will happen when the children are told they won't be coming back in January.....?

Of course the children will be sad, but then what for the next 7 months? Will families have to settle their youngsters into a new preschool for 2 terms before the huge change to primary school? That will be so incredibly unsettling for them! Not to mention the logistical nightmare many families will face if they have children at the next door primary school.

We need your help to change this!

If we can reach our target, we can open a new preschool in Kennet Valley's place. Although it would be new staff, the children would still be coming to the same building with the same toys which would be so much less upheaval for them.

We can offer places for 2 year olds, those with 30 hours eligibility codes and all day sessions.

We will work closely with the primary school to help create a smooth transition when they make the big step up.

We will create a warm, nurturing environment for the wonderful toddlers and preschoolers from the area (and beyond!).

We will organise family fun days, Christmas & Summer fetes, Sports Days, parents evening and so much more.

Why am I so keen?

Why would I want to take on the monumental task of running a community preschool?

First and foremost, I'm a mum! The activities KVPS offered, the support they gave the children and the opportunities my son had for independent play have helped his education get off to a flying start.

I want to give my 2 year old daughter, and other children, the same opportunities that my son had.

I've lived in/around Fords Farm since the day I was born; I attended Kennet Valley Pre-School and Kennet Valley Primary School, my mum worked at the preschool for nearly 25 years and until July this year my son went there too.

So do it...!

In order to secure all the equipment the previous preschool has amassed before it is sold off, we need to raise £1500 by the end of November - the most vital part of a preschool is it's resources!

The rest of the target money is needed for the legalities of opening a pre-school - solicitors for opening a company and to create staff contracts, DBS checks for all staff, insurance, tapestry/online tracking for children's progress along with the costs of applying with Ofsted.

£1, £3, £10 - whatever you can afford to give would be appreciated, not just by me, but by our local community for years and years to come.

This is a huge project, but with the support of my amazing husband, my wonderful mother, another local preschool, the local authority and the headmistress of Kennet Valley Primary School I am in no doubt that I could provide a warm, nurturing environment for the children to grow and learn through play...but I also need your help.

Thank you so much for reading this far, please share this across all your social media platforms, we can't let the community be without a preschool!!
