Carole King
Carole King wrote her first number 1 hit Will You Love Me Tomorrow at age 17 with her songwriting partner and then-husband Gerry Goffin. She went on to write or co-write 118 pop hits on the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming one of the 20th century's most influential and successful singer-songwriters. In 1987 King was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and in 2021, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for a second time — the first person to be inducted separately as a songwriter and a performing artist.
Tapestry
King’s solo album, Tapestry, (released February 10th, 1971), has sold more than 30 million records worldwide and remained the best-selling album by a female artist for a quarter of a century. With Tapestry, King earned the distinction of becoming the first woman to win multiple Grammys in the General Field, with the album winning Album Of The Year and Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female as well as Song Of The Year (You've Got A Friend) and Record Of The Year (It's Too Late).
The album was released on February 10th, 1971.
