Carnaval del Pueblo Asociacion (CDPA) has been working hard to empower the Latin American community in London since 1998. We’re all about exploring, celebrating, and sharing the unique cultural heritage we have across 19 Latin American countries. We officially became a registered charity in 2017, and we are proud to be a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO).
The highlight of our calendar is the delivery of Carnaval del Pueblo - a free, authentic Latin American music, dance, bilingual theatre, arts and gastronomic festival for all the family in Southwark, London. The Carnaval is a rare and important opportunity for a diverse community to come together and celebrate la vida. This is more important than ever for frequently marginalised groups in the post-pandemic landscape. It is integral to us that Carnaval remains a free event. However, while delivering a festival costs in the realm of £250,000, funding is becoming harder and harder to access. That is why we need your support.
CDPA is also the official Latin American entry in the New Year's Day Parade (LNYDP). Over it's lifetime CDPA has nurtured young people's creativity by delivering accessible performing arts workshops, and creating opportunities to perform, including to large audiences such as at Carnaval and LNYDP. Your donations help us to reach more young performers, create more of these opportunities and maximise the experience for those involved.
