Aim

To improve and sustain free access for users of the river Towy and to increase storage facilities for water sports equipment

Carmathen boat club built the slipway access in Carmarthen in the mid 1970s. The river Towy is Wales's longest river. The slipway provides the only free access to the river. The slipway is used by several clubs and organisations (Dragon Canoe Club, Gwendraeth Valley Paddlers, Carmarthen Rowing Club, Carmarthenshire Water Safety Partnership, Carmarthen Water Sports Club, Local schools, Carmarthen Coracle men, Ferryside ferry and countless individuals. It is also vitally important to the emergency services for training and rescues. Since the start of Covid the river has been a place for many to escape the pressures of recent years, this has lead to a major increase in numbers wishing to access the river. The current slipway and storage facilities need improving especialy for those with disabilities. We are looking to raise £8,000 to improve access for people with disabilities, strengthen and enlarge the existing pontoon and create a new storage area so the club can continue to grow and more people can have safe  access to the river. If you are able to donate it will be greatly appreciated.

Community impact

It’s important to explain the wider impact of your organisation for the whole community, who does it benefit and why? Perhaps your facilities are used for other purposes outside of sport too?

How we’ll spend the money raised

It’s important to be transparent about how you plan to spend the money you raise. Your audience will be more likely to make a pledge if they can see how their donation will help.
