Carisbrooke Tennis Club are looking to fund the installation of an accessible toilet.
Welcome to Carisbrooke Tennis Club (CASC)! Based in the heart of Knighton, Leicester, we are more than just a sports club—we are a vibrant Community Amateur Sports Club dedicated to making health and social connection accessible to everyone. From our historic 1939 clubhouse, we host everything from Tennis and Pickleball to social & wellness groups. We pride ourselves on being a "home away from home" for athletes, seniors, and local social groups alike.
We are crowdfunding to break down the final physical barrier at our club: the lack of a DDA-compliant accessible toilet. While we have grown into a hub sport and social groups, our aging 1939 infrastructure currently lacks the facilities our wheelchair attendees and elderly members deserve.
We are applying for extra funding because this project is a capital improvement that directly increases participation for underrepresented groups. By installing a standalone accessible unit, we can finally offer a dignified experience to our players and guests and ensure that nobody has to cut their stay short due to a lack of basic facilities.
Transparency is key. Every penny raised goes directly toward the purchase and installation of the new facility. Here is how our £14,396 target breaks down:
£4,548: High-specification, standalone DDA-compliant toilet unit.
£7,275: Professional groundworks & concrete foundation
£1,783: Utility connections (water/waste/electric)
£790: Permanent, non-slip DDA-compliant ramping system and safety handrails.
This project ripples far beyond the tennis courts. By making our site 100% accessible, we support:
Mental Health: Providing a barrier-free space for support and wellness groups
Active Aging: Ensuring our Darts, Book Club, and Board Game groups remain inclusive as members' mobility needs change.
Local Partnerships: Providing shared accessible facilities for our neighbours at the Leicester Bowling Club.
New Activities: Allowing us to launch Tai Chi and Yoga classes for the wider Leicestershire community.
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
