Who are Care in Action Malawi?
Care in Action Malawi is a new charity in the (lengthy!) process of registering with the UK charities commission to become official. Until we become a registered charity, and to help us get there, we will be raising funds using crowdfunding... so here we are!
Why are we putting care, into action in Malawi?
Poverty excludes many children and young people from education in Malawi, one of the ten poorest countries in the world, and we don't believe that this should be the case. Through Community Projects we provide nutritious meals, pre-school education, and learning support for primary school. Through Study Sponsorship we are able to fund higher education so a child’s success is not limited by poverty. (see www.careinactionmalawi.org for more info!)
What can you do to help us get started?
We are incredibly grateful to St Alphonse church in Luxemburg, who have already donated £1000 which we have used towards funding a year of university education for Jackson, seen in the video link. Jackson would not have been able to continue his university course in nutrition had it not been through sponsorship and as you can see from his video - it really means the world to him!
We work with partners in Malawi who identify students with real promise, who, with your support, have the opportunity to progress and achieve their dream of attending university. Our partners have asked us is we can help to send these 4 promising students to university, to help them achieve their dreams.
Wilson, Bwanali, Joven and Makowa have all achieved the grades that they need to take the next step in their education, however they are currently seeking support to help them reach their goals. If you are able to offer support, you will receive updates on the student's progress as they continue through their course.
Wilson is one of 4 in his family, and has the opportunity to go to university and study information Sciences. Hear more from Wilson Here.
Makowa is 23 years old and has the opportunity to go to university and study Nursing and Midwifery, if you can help. Hear from Makowa Here.
Joven the only one in his family to have proceeded with education to this level, would like to go to university to study a Bachelor of Education. Hear from Joven.
Bwanali has an ambition to go to Livingstonia University and also study his Bachelor of Education. Hear more from Bwanali here.
