We're still collecting donations
On the 13th August 2020 we'd raised £3,220 with 91 supporters in 41 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

If we reach our stretch target, we will be able to source plastic free, compostable, and recyclable loyalty cards. If we reach this figure the material will be responsibly manufactured at one of the world’s most environmentally friendly paper mills, powered by bio energy.
We will also use some of the stretch target towards creating a promotional video to promote and advertise some of the local independents involved in the Cardiff Indie Collective.
Cardiff Indie Collective is a supportive community of local independent businesses. Through our website and social media pages we can showcase them in one place to make it easier and more convenient to shop locally. We had started planning the website back when corona was still an innocent beer – but the effect of the virus on our local businesses means we want to get it launched as soon as possible.
How we started
Our instagram account started out a couple of years ago as ‘The Cardiff Gift Exchange’, which was a meeting place for local independents to swap their products and services – this has evolved into what it is today; a platform to help spread the word and share the work of some of our wonderful small businesses all in one place.
The next steps - Where will your money go?
Building the website is the next step and this is where a bulk of the funding will go. The website will have a directory of local independent businesses in Cardiff and the surrounding area. You will be able to search for them either by category, by keyword, or using an interactive map – so whenever you need to buy something you can have a look if you can buy it locally, before visiting the chain shops.
Each participating business will have their own profile, with links to their shops/websites etc.
There will also be a blog where there will be a regular ‘indie business of the week’ feature, as well as contributions from local businesses
For consumers, we will also be launching a loyalty card, which you will be able to use in participating businesses. There will be events and workshops where you can ‘meet the maker’ and participate in a range of activities. There will also be an option to buy gift vouchers which can be used in participating businesses. There is also a community facebook group where you can give and receive recommendations.
For businesses, as well as the website, we will be holding events - from networking to business related workshops. We will also act as a support network, you will have access to a private facebook group, and we can be a collective voice should we need it.
The funding from your pledges will go towards the initial start up costs of this.
Help us to help the local independents in Cardiff!
Thank you!! Rhian x
