The Cantley Village Hall Committee are planning to demolish the current hall, built in 1930, as the cost of maintaining the hall has become prohibitive. We wish to replace it with a new larger hall on the same site, which is owned by the Cantley Village Hall charity, as well as replacing the children's playground equipment, refurbishing the car park and providing outside adult gym equipment.
We have applied to the government's Community Ownership Fund (COF) which has a £150M pot to provide community facilities such as this. However we will need to demonstrate that we can also raise funds. We currently have circa £30,000 ring-fenced as seed money and we have had some promises of funding from local organisations. We probably need close to £500,000 to complete the project and the COF can fund 80% of the project costs leaving us to raise another £70,000.
The aim is to provide a state of the art modern village hall that will act as a neighbourhood hub capable of providing a range of services and facilities in the way they do in other villages eg Reedham and Lingwood. We are confident that we can achieve this project with the support of the local community and hope you can support us.
