End the use of Non-Disclosure Agreements to buy the silence of victims of discrimination, harassment, bullying and other misconduct.
Can't Buy My Silence has had amazing results in the 6 months since we launched.
We have a "Model Bill", a new law we have written to ban the misuse of NDAs, which has been passed in Prince Edward Island, and is in progress in Ireland and in England and Wales - and has been introduced in Manitoba and Nova Scotia.
66 universities in England have now signed a pledge not to use NDAs which Can't Buy My Silence is promoting with the full backing of the Minister for Education. We hope to do the same thing in Canada next.
The pace of change is amazing - and we are swamped with stories from victims and survivors of harassment, discrimination, abuse and more who have been pressured into signing NDAs and now bitterly regret their forced silence. We need to keep working on public knowledge and awareness of NDAs so that more and more people recognize them, understand them, and are able to make good decisions about whether they really want to live with a lifelong gag. We want to develop more materials for public legal information for our website, keep bringing in allies through social media, speak at the dozens of events we are asked to, and provide support for those sharing their testimonies on the website.
We are a volunteer-based campaign, and we are burning people out. This has quickly become far bigger than Zelda and I ever hoped, and we need some organizational and administrative help. We need some dollars to pay even a few hours a week to a campaign coordinator. Please help us!
