by Cancer Card in Edinburgh, United Kingdom

Our Crowdfunder Mission

Our comfort boxes are filled with practical and comforting items designed to support cancer patients during their treatment.

Here at Cancer Card, we believe that everyone deserves the same start on their treatment journey which is why we have thoughtfully curated this box based on patient feedback.

Our comfort box is in high demand and we would like to be able to provide an additional free 100 boxes to cancer patients this year.

In early 2025, we will also start distributing a Children's Comfort Box, which is suitable for children and young people who have been diagnosed with cancer.

Any donation large or small would be greatly appreciated in helping us achieve our goal. Thank you.

What's Included in our Comfort Box

Our Comfort Box project has made a significant impact on the lives of cancer patients. We're thrilled to report that we've now distributed over 1,000 Comfort Boxes to individuals facing one of life's most difficult challenges.

Each Comfort Box serves as a reminder that the recipient is not alone. Carefully curated with high-quality products, these boxes offer both practical assistance and emotional support during a time when it's needed most. From items that help manage treatment side effects to those that provide comfort and distraction, every element has been thoughtfully chosen to make a real difference in patients' daily lives.

The box contents include:

  • Digital In-Ear Thermometer - Accurate temperature monitoring is essential during your treatment. Our digital infra-red thermometer ensures precise readings and features a memory function to track changes, aiding in your care and well-being.
  • Deluxe Wool Blanket - This insulating, hypoallergenic, and oh-so-soft blanket is designed to provide comfort, warmth, and a sense of security. It's made from natural materials that help regulate body temperature, which is crucial for patients with weakened immune systems.
  • Travel Mug - Stay fuelled throughout your cancer journey with this spill-proof and easy-to-clean travel mug. It's designed to keep your preferred beverages piping hot or refreshingly cool, ensuring you stay hydrated and energised.
  • Cosy Woollen Scarf - Keep warm and cosy with this great quality wool scarf.
  • "Stories of Cancer and Hope" by Kevin Donaghy - A collection of honest stories from people directly affected by cancer. These stories are uplifting and inspirational because of the many silver linings and glimmers of hope they offer, in the words of people who know what it's like to live with the uncertainty of cancer.
  • Notebook and Pen - Keep track of your thoughts, appointments, and experiences in one place. This simple pad and pen set helps you capture important moments, ensuring nothing significant is missed.
  • A Cancer Card - With love from the Cancer Card team, this card contains a QR code to access our online support hub. Explore the range of services available, including support for finances, counselling, transport, complementary therapies, and free gifts and experiences.

However, the impact of these Comfort Boxes extends far beyond the physical items they contain. They represent a community of care, showing recipients that there are people thinking of them and supporting them through their cancer journey. Your donations will enable us to reach more individuals with this message of hope and solidarity, making a meaningful difference at a crucial time in their lives.

What's Included in our Kids Comfort Box

In partnership with Cash for Kids we will be launching our Children's Comfort Box early in 2025. This initial funding will enable us to start the distribution of these boxes to children across Edinburgh, The Lothians and Fife who have been diagnosed with cancer. However, we want to ensure that this initiative can be sustained for years to come, and so we need funding to support the continuation of this initiative.

The children's box contents include:

  • Oodie - a type of blanket hoodie that you can wear. Not only a popular product amongst children but one that will provide maximum comfort and warmth during their time in hospital.
  • Accessible PJs / Loungewear by Well Cool Clothing - specialist clothing which provides discreet access, comfort and preserves dignity during examination and medical care.
  • Digital In-Ear Thermometer - Accurate temperature monitoring is essential during your treatment. Our digital infra-red thermometer ensures precise readings and features a memory function to track changes, aiding in your care and well-being.
  • Water Bottle - To help the child stay hydrated during cancer treatment.
  • The Unworry Doodle Book - An activity book that promotes mindfulness and helps to decrease boredom during long hospital stays.
  • Stress Ball - To help release tension and nervous energy, which leads to a reduction in stress levels.
  • Small Soft Toy - For comfort during cancer treatment.

These boxes will be a token of support, not just to the child but to the whole family. Any donation, no matter how big or small, will help us bring a bit of comfort to a child in Scotland with cancer.

Please support our Children's Comfort Box initiative if you can. Thank you.
