Aim

We are seeking your support to make the first recording of this fantastic new work by Tarik O'Regan, commissioned by Wimbledon Choral

UK-born Tarik O'Regan, now living in San Francisco, first met King Charles, then Prince of Wales, twenty years ago when the young composer had been commissioned by Lincoln Cathedral to write a work for the unveiling of the restored Dean's Eye window.  So taken was he by the music, the future King included O'Regan in the list of composers to be commissioned to write new music for his coronation in 2023.  The result was the beautiful 'Agnus Dei'.

Following on from commissioning Cecilia McDowall's 'Da Vinci Requiem' to mark its 100th anniversary and the subsequent critically acclaimed recording of the new work, Wimbledon Choral has taken another step in its quest of championing new choral music by choosing Tarik O'Regan to write a work that features the 'Agnus Dei' at its heart.  Working with contemporary poets across the world to write five more movements, and in partnership with Pacific Chorale in California, has resulted in the 'Critical Mass', which received its world premiere in London's Cadogan Hall in April 2026 performed by Wimbledon Choral.

It is our great desire to see this work performed by other choirs and a significant factor in achieving this is by the availability of a high quality and publicly available recording.   Not surprisingly, this requires considerable resources and funding to make this happen and we would be very grateful if you could support our journey in producing it.

Thank you very much.
