Aim

The Club requires to invest in its facilities to cater for the huge increase in youth playing numbers from U12-17 over the past few seasons.

Campion RFC is a community-based volunteer organisation promoting rugby, rugby culture and lifelong participation in sport. We are dedicated to ensuring that the game of rugby and rugby values enrich the lives of our members, families and the wider community.

As a small amatuer community club, we have been hard hit by the Covid-19 pandemic. We have had to manage without any bar income since lockdown. Our current membership fees just covers our rent and we do not have the spare funds to carry out essential repairs to the clubhouse and put additional safety measures in place post Covid-19.

The Club’s overall playing numbers have been growing over the last few seasons, we are now consistently fielding a second team at senior level. For next season, whenever we start, we plan to field youth teams at U17, U16, U14 and U13 level and introduce U12’s when the schools restart. At the end of the school season from January 2021 we plan to field a Colts team for the first time in our history. The entire youth set up to date has been funded by the generous support of coaches, managers, parents and former senior club players.

We currently hold registrations for around 100 boys. Most of these boys would have been lost to rugby had we not formed a youth section as the Campion School could not accommodate every youngster who wants to play the game. With that number of boys we have as many parents and young children coming to support the youth teams at home fixtures and we need to make the Clubhouse more welcoming to families.

A massive thank you to everyone.

The speed in which we raised £3,140 in just 3 days has exceeded all our expectations. Thanks to the generosity of all those who have contributed so far, it has been absolutely amazing. The comments left on the page prove just what a special club Campion is to us all.

To reach our Crowdfunder initial target of £4,000, with the help of a Sport England top up, will give a much-needed boost to improving our facilities and making the clubhouse more welcoming for parents with young children and our growing numbers when we are back up and playing again.

As we near our target, here is a timely reminder and a few more details on what we are aiming to spend the money on:

For anyone who has had the pleasure of venturing into the clubhouse during winter you know the feeling of walking from the playing fields into an equally cold clubhouse. New windows will provide better insulation.

Refurbishing the Kitchen facilities will allow us to better cater for all the youth teams and their supporters and really help with social events and the hiring out the of clubhouse.

The growing involvement in the club of youth section Mums makes this work a top priority and will also help with social events and hiring out the clubhouse. The least said about the current state the better.
