Standing up for the people of Dundee
Scotland has been damaged by almost 2 decades of SNP rule. Scotland cannot afford another decade of SNP misrule. You can help elect a candidate that will fight for Dundee.
A Scottish Labour government would deliver planning reform to boost house building, deliver fair funding to Councils and put home ownership back within reach of working people.
Our education system is broken
Schools are overwhelmed by a sharp increase in children with additional support needs, including dyslexia and ADHD at a time when NHS Tayside have stopped accepting new referrals. Waiting times for those already on the list can be several years. Stuart Hunter, president of the Scottish Secondary Teachers Association, said the schools system “has passed the tipping point leading to crisis.
Dundee’s record on Child Poverty has worsened under SNP misrule.
Dundee has one of the highest Child Poverty rates in Scotland. The estimate is 28.2% of our children were living in relative poverty in 2023 compared to 24.5% across Scotland as a whole. The poorest of Dundee saw no benefit from £1bn waterfront regeneration according to the Accounts Commission. “A marked contrast to the endemic poverty, inequality and drug related deaths.
We have a Housing Emergency yet the SNP have no plan to fix it.
As the housing crisis in Scotland has worsened, the SNP’s response has been widely criticized. Despite the growing need for affordable homes, nearly £200 million was cut from the affordable housing budget under their administration. This reduction has contributed to a rise in the number of children living in temporary accommodation each year. For many working families, owning a home has become an unattainable dream, highlighting the urgent need for effective policies and investment in affordable housing solutions. Nearly 900 homes in Dundee are now known to contain RAAC, the highest number of affected residential properties in Scotland. Many in Dundee East.
Our Social Care system is overwhelmed but the SNP’s National Care Service Plans have fallen apart.
According to Public Health Scotland’s April 2025 report 6,461 people were waiting on a social care assessment in Scotland. The SNP’s Public Health Minister, Jenni Minto, has admitted that people could be dying as a result of later cancer diagnosis.
