Aim

Help us provide children in Cumbria with an action packed, memory filled, laughter driven, friend making and best summer holiday adventure

There once was a mere Primary School Teacher, whom wandered the streets of Cumbria in the school holidays and a horrible sight met her eyes. She saw no children on bikes, the trees only had birds in them, there was no sounds of laughter, no signs of youngsters having fun or even being active and enjoying beautiful Cumbria. She recognised the lack of activities for children to do in school holidays and, with a few close friends, CAMP Cumbria was born.

CAMP Cumbria provides a wide range of activities for children aged 4-15 across Cumbria. CAMP Cumbria provides activities not just for the sports fans but arts and craft, mad science experiments, baking, dance, outdoor activities, survival skills, ICT and more.

We are raising funding to support CAMP 2017. We have reduced the cost of CAMP to ensure that children from all social economic backgrounds can attend. We have an amazing low price of £99.00.  However, due to the lowered cost we are now having to be mindful with resources and specialised activities.

As a summer CAMP for all children, we have had a significantly large number of children with Special Educational Needs apply for CAMP 2017. This means that we need an increased numbers of staff to support the children with ASD, AHDA and other specific needs, especially the children whom need 1:1 care. These children will need specialised activities and care throughout the day, which will be a higher ratio of staff and due to our low cost the funding raised will need to support this.

In addition, to reduce rural community impact, we have also added over 25 pickup/drop off points across Cumbria to the two CAMP’s located in Coniston and Cockermouth. Throughout the 4 weeks we also take the children to local attractions that they may not have been to or able to afford previously such as The Wildlife Safari, Trampoline Park and River Cruise, none of which is covered in the £99.00 cost price.

Through funding we can ensure that children have access to a range of activities, experience new experiences, attend visits and trips to locations across Cumbria, get out of the house, make new friends and provide them with memories to last a lifetime.
