To help fund the purchase of new kit and equipment for the Cambridge City Hockey Club Youth Section.
We are Cambridge City Hockey Club (CCHC).
Formally founded in 1930, CCHC is a community-based, not-for-profit, family hockey club offering hockey for everyone (we have members from the ages of 5 to 70+). CCHC is one of the leading hockey clubs in the East region, with 12 Senior league teams and a thriving Youth section of more than 500 members.
We are fundraising for kit for the Youth Section of CCHC. Our club needs you!! We cater for all levels - from top performers competing nationally to introducing hockey to youngsters who dont have access to hockey at school and want to learn and develop. Our club is run by volunteers, supported by a team of professional coaches.
We’ve grown rapidly over the last couple of years, bringing increased demand on our resources. Two years ago we catered only for U16s and U18s and a small number of younger children in our development section getting their first taste of hockey. Now more than 500 children between 5 and 18 years old benefit from our coaching and match play - learning about hockey, being active and developing a sense of belonging to our club and their teams.
In particular, we have had to purchase a number of new goalkeeper kits to loan out to our members. As we’ve grown the club, so have we grown the number of teams - and so the need for goalkeepers - after all no goalkeeper means no team!
A full kit is in the order of £1,000 for U12s and up - and we have 15 teams that we are now putting out between u12 and U16. Few people can easily afford a full kit and we want to be able to make hockey and goalkeeping as accessible as possible by having kit we can loan out. Some of the kits we already own have become worn and need replacing for safety reasons and we’ve also had to fill a gap previously filled by children owning their own kit or borrowing from school.
We also would like to buy some pitch dividers and other coaching equipment if we can. We have started hosting development festivals for U10s and U12s with clubs from across the region in attendance, bringing match play to as many children as possible at all levels of skill. The dividers are needed to divide pitches for small sided games. They will also be useful in training.
We also would like to invest in new match kit for teams.
We’ve set a goal for this round of £10,000. As a Sports Club we benefit from Gift Aid which means any donation from a UK tax payer is increased by 25% so if we hit our target this could raise us a total of £12,500.
