We are raising money for the RNLI on behalf of my cousin Callum, who sadly lost his life at sea in July 2021.
The RNLI is an incredible charity that saves hundreds of thousands of lives at sea each year, and they rely on voluntary contributions and legacies for its income. For example, the RNLI rescued multiple family members last year and spent days contributing to my cousin Callum's search and recovery.
Callum passed away after jumping into the sea to save multiple family members who had been swept out in a riptide. Callum got into difficulty after bravely getting his mum, sister, nieces and nephews on a lifeboat to safety at Rockley Point in Poole. The RNLI responded quickly to the distress and proceeded to save my family members, providing them protection and medical attention. Unfortunately, Callum did not make it onto the boat that day and died a HERO after getting his family to safety.
The RNLI spent four days searching the coastline and surrounding area looking for Callum. They provided incredible support and understanding to the family. Its important to understand that these people are made up of 95% of volunteers who devote their time and selflessness to saving lives.
The RNLI is a charity founded upon and driven by the values of selflessness, courage, dependability and trustworthiness, with volunteers at their heart. These are ordinary people doing extraordinary things - supported by expert staff, all working together to help communities to save lives.
Every day of every year, people of all backgrounds get into danger in the water. It’s a problem that the RNLI is there to tackle. In addition to their 24/7 search and rescue lifeboat service, countless more lives are saved through their youth education and water safety work.
These volunteer lifeboat crews and lifeguards help and rescue thousands of people and have saved over 143,000 lives since 1824.
In an ideal world, no one would suffer the devastating loss of a loved one to drowning. So the RNLI are working together with partners and communities; they aim to educate, influence, supervise and rescue those at risk of drowning.
Please support this incredible charity that saves countless lives and supports individuals and families when they need them most, who believes in prioritising the safety and welfare of the community and public as the RNLI team at Poole did for Callum and my Family.
