With this film I aim to convey how change is something we all face in life and how we should embrace it rather than fear it.
Film Synopsis:
A young woman reminisces about her childhood in her home-town just before moving onto the next chapter of her life. She struggles with the change that is to come, but with the help of a little girl, she learns to see that there can be good in change.
What is the film about?
This short film is all about moving through different chapters of our lives, accepting change when it occurs, and not stepping away from it. It is about cherishing the memories from our childhood, the good and the bad, and being able to move past them to live our lives. It is often easy to find comfortability and stick with it, but with this film I want to express the good that can come from accepting change.
Why does it mean something to me?
Stepping into an era of my personal life that promises a lot of change, this feels like an important film for me to make, not only to show my audience, but also myself, that change happens constantly throughout life and it’s something we should welcome with open arms and not be scared of, no matter how daunting it may feel.
For my graduation film I want to focus on creating a short film with a dialogue heavy script that focuses primarily on the growth of a character. My past work has been screened at the BFI in London and has been nominated for an RTS award for my writing. This is something I am hoping to be able to achieve again.
How will I use the money?
I will be shooting my final graduation film in my home town, which is much further afield than I have ever shot any of my films before. I have always played it safe and sought locations close to my university, but for this one it felt right to base my graduation film in my own home town, as this film is all about the place you grew up. Therefore, I will need funding for travel expenses to my home town of Bury in Greater Manchester. I will also be using the funds to provide props for the film and food for everyone on the set of my 2 day shoot.
Everyone who donates will feature on the special thanks of the films credits!
