Aim

To create a 1 minute teaser trailer to help pitch our epic Scottish fantasy feature film "Call of the Laoich"

What is "Call of the Laoich"?

"Call of the Laoich" is a brand new epic Scottish fantasy feature film that we are developing and follows Pict Goddess Mackenzie Weir, alongside her adventurous teen Champion, Freya, as she goes rogue to rescue a magical creature, who has been kidnapped by Bonnie Prince Charlie's ferocious and deadly secret army - THE BLACK THISTLE! When her fellow Laoich - Bran, Iona and Tristian - refuse to answer the call for help from the creature's daughter - Mackenzie refuses to sit ideally by and leaps into action.

We've raised our initial £1000 goal with support from Creative Scotland. In order to receive the match funding we require 25 unique pledges so please help us if you can.

We're attempting to raise £1000 so we can commission a composer - Steve Dunster - and a Scottish voice over actress to record dialogue for our teaser.

Our minute long teaser features scenes from our pitch and story outline for "Call of the Laoich" showcasing the scope and ambition for this exciting feature film!

Hollywood have had their time with films such as "Braveheart" and "Brave", and now it's time for a Scottish creative team to tell our stories and celebrate our fairytales on the big screen around the world!

With your support we can hire Steve Dunster to score our trailer.

Steve scored our award winning Scottish fairytale short film, "Faithful", which you can listen to in the trailer above.

We will also hold auditions online to cast the right Scottish actress to play Mackenzie, our hero of our story, in the trailer.

WHO IS INVOLVED?

The key creatives behind this project has recently had their short film, "Faithful" screen for a week theatrically at SHORTS BY THE SEA VOL 7, earning Oscars eligibility, we also won BEST SCREENPLAY at the British Short Film Awards AND premiered in the US at WonderCon and screened at San Deigo Comic Con. The film is currently on a 1 year streaming deal with STV in Scotland.

Fraser Coull, the creator of the LaoichVerse also wrote and produced "Faithful", which was screened at WonderCon and San Diego Comic Con. Fraser won BEST SCREENPLAY for "Faithful" at the British Short Film Awards 2024, as well as being the showrunner for the award winning web-series Cops and Monsters which is screening on Amazon Prime in over 60 territories.

Internationally award winning writer Evlin DuBose is co-writing the "Call of the Laoich" feature film and producing it alongside Fraser.

Evlin is an Australian-American screenwriter, director, composer and producer who specialises in storyworlding, creating rich, imaginative tales with deeply developed original lore and multimedia approaches. WHERE WILL THE CONCEPT REEL BE SEEN?

Once completed, we will use the concept reel along with our one page pitch document and complete outline of our story to attract film finance from private investors and sponsors in order to raise a significant development fund.

From there, we will create a slick pitch document and hire a small production team to package the film, attaching well known Scottish actors to the project, and approach film studios, attend film markets around the world, meet with sales agents and production partners to get the funding we need to shoot and produce the movie in 2027.
