Scotland needed heroes. We’re building them.

Call of the Laoich is a Scottish fantasy feature rooted in myth, magic, and legacy. Set against the backdrop of ancient Scotland and the Otherworld, it is a story of courage, sacrifice, and destiny with global audience appeal.

We’re now raising £5,000 in development funding to help move the project into its next phase.

Your support will help us strengthen the project through script development, professional materials, and the essential work needed to prepare Call of the Laoich for future funding and industry opportunities.

Call of the Laoich is an epic Scottish fantasy feature set in 18th century Scotland, where myth, magic and history collide.

At the heart of the story is Freya, a seventeen-year-old girl who is drawn into a hidden world of ancient protectors, dangerous enemies and a destiny far greater than she ever imagined. As the Highlands face a growing threat, Freya finds herself caught between the mortal world and the Otherworld, forced to discover whether she has the courage to answer the call.

This is a story of courage, sacrifice, identity and belonging, rooted in Scottish mythology and built for audiences who love fantasy, adventure and character-driven storytelling.

We are raising development funding to help take Call of the Laoich into its next stage.

This campaign will support the essential work needed to strengthen the project professionally, including script development, concept work, budgeting and scheduling preparation, and the materials required to present the film to industry partners, financiers and future collaborators. Public campaign and project materials also describe the goal as preparing the film for the next stage of financing, packaging and industry outreach.

Independent film development is where the real groundwork happens. It is the stage where the script is refined, the creative vision becomes sharper, and the project is given the strongest possible foundation before moving out into the wider industry.

By supporting this campaign, you are helping us build Call of the Laoich properly and giving this Scottish fantasy film its best chance of reaching the screen.

Your support helps fund the next stage of development for Call of the Laoich.

That means giving the project the tools it needs to grow stronger creatively and professionally, including script development, concept work, budget and schedule preparation, and the pitch materials needed to take the film out to the wider industry. Fraser has also publicly described the development push as part of preparing the project to attach talent, approach markets, seek sales interest and find producing partners.

Depending on the level of support, backers can also receive a range of rewards linked to the project journey. Publicly visible reward snippets reference:

  • campaign updates and behind the scenes access
  • early access to promotional material
  • Co-Producer credit at £100
  • Producer credit at £1,000, including a set visit
  • an Executive Producer level with higher-tier access and perks, including a set invite and premiere-related rewards

More than that, your pledge helps prove there is an audience for ambitious Scottish fantasy storytelling. That support matters when building momentum around an independent film.1776440897_cotl_banner_6.jpg

Even if you cannot pledge, you can still make a huge difference.

Please share the campaign with friends, family and anyone who loves Scottish stories, fantasy films and independent cinema. Post about it on social media. Send it directly to people who might connect with the project. Word of mouth can be just as valuable as a pledge.

Every share helps us reach new people. Every conversation helps build awareness. Every supporter helps move Call of the Laoich one step closer to becoming a film.

THE SCOTLAND MISSION

Part of our mission whilst bringing "Call of the Laoich" to life will be to shoot the film right here in Scotland making use of our naturally beautiful locations, castles and studios as well as hiring local cast and crew to fill the roles on the production.

We hope to work with our local funding body, Screen Scotland, and our partners at Kiran's Trust to create a training programme from pre-production through to post-production for creatives in Scotland, and those looking to get their first credit or much needed experience on a film set to help them in their careers.

We are teaming up with Larbert Secondary School in Scotland, working with some of their students to create original character designs, fairytale creature designs and concept art for our pitch deck. Their work will be showcased internationally to companies and producers around the world as part of our film's pitch deck and we will advertise and promote their work through our development.

Extra funds raised on this campaign will be used by Kiran’s Trust to continue support Larbert High School’s creative endeavour.

Sian Pinkerton from Larbert High School has illustrated and designed Archie - our Úrusig house spirit - which we hope to include in our film.

The students are working on more concept art for the film and we can’t wait to share some of that with you.

We will also reach out to colleges and universities in Scotland to be a part of our programme for their film and media students to participate in our training programme.

Hopefully this feature will be the start of our LaoichVerse and will spawn more films and TV series set in the same world and we will be able to hire and work with more creatives and suppliers in Scotland as part of that process.
