New stretch target
We would look to invest additional sums in the future structure of the club both in respect of cricket and the sports club as a whole.
Due to CV19 we lost 40% income & we are asking for help to build the club back up to so that we can continue to support the local community
by Caldy Cricket Club - COVID recovery in our Centenary Year in West Kirby, England, United Kingdom
We would look to invest additional sums in the future structure of the club both in respect of cricket and the sports club as a whole.
Caldy Cricket Club is a community club based in West Wirral, playing fixtures in the picturesque setting of Paton Field, boarding Thurstaston Common and the beautifully quiet cricket pitch of Calday Grammar School, who we have strong links with.
We are part of the wider Caldy Sports Club which includes Caldy Rugby and Oxton Hockey Clubs together with hosting a community choir.
Our purpose is to offer the best facilities possible for the local community to play sport.
COVID
The global COVID-19 pandemic has created a very uncertain landscape for sports clubs in Britain, and Caldy CC is no different.
2021 is our centenary year , 2020 affected our plans for this special year.
2020 massive reduction of income
COVID still hitting us in 2021
Additionally, fundraising events have been limited during 2021.
The committee’s plans had included;
We wanted all that done and ready by April 2021 having raised the funds in 2020, but we could not achieve it.
GIRLS ONLY CRICKET (8 - 14 YEAR OLDS) STARTED 14TH MAY 2021
This is Emilia Sedgwick who plays for Caldy & Cheshire. We started girls cricket this year and encourage girls who wish to join to follow us on social media or email [email protected] to find out more about joining in.
DISABILITY CRICKET @ CALDY CC
We are the only Club on Wirral, indeed in the West Cheshire area to have been appointed an England Cricket Board (ECB) Disability Champion Club
This is especially important to us at Caldy as we have the honour to have Chris Edwards & Dan Hamm at the Club.
Chris is a first team player, coach and former captain of the club, but is also the ENGLAND LEARNING DISABILITY captain and won the prestigious BBC Christopher Martin-Jenkins Spirit of Cricket Award in 2018. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/45655159.amp
Dan Hamm is a first team spinner and coach to our juniors, he also represents England Physical Disability and won the ICRC World Series in Bangladesh in 2015.
Dan and Chris have run small group disability sessions at Caldy on a Wednesday night already but now we can open this to the wider community and are liaising with;

Put simply, we need your donations to help us recover from COVID, get the Club back to where it was and then fulfil the future protecting plans for investment we missed out on in 2020.
There are different donations you can make, have a look at those on offers;
£100 DONATIONS
Given it is our centenary year we thought it sensible to link the fundraising to this anniversary.
We are therefore selling off each of the 100 years from 1921 to 2021 for £100 each.
As a THANK YOU from Caldy Cricket Club, people purchasing a year will get;
Commemorative Cap
A commemorative cap, with the clubs specially designed 100 year anniversary badge on it, together with the year they have purchased stitched into the peak.
The badge, commissioned by the club, has been designed by member and former old boy of Calday School Pete Hoppins.
Pete has recently retired as Head of Design Globally for Nike football and has headed up every Nike football kit design, internationally and club level since 2016.
These caps are therefore limited in number and hold a great back story in respect of the logo design on them.
Additionally those donating the £100 will also get;
Details of our partnership with Independent Wirral are below.

There is a simple 4 step process:
1. Go to the Club website, www.caldy.play-cricket.com and click on fundraising tab
2. Check which years are available and choose the year you want, together with a couple of reserve years.
3. Go to the fundraising page (www.crowdfunder.co.uk/caldy-cc-2021 there is a link from our website) and make your donation of £100
4. Email your confirmation of donation email to [email protected] together with your chosen year and reserve years (within 24 hours of the donation).
We will allocate years on a first come first served basis in respect of the time and date of the donation. If your preferred year has already been allocated we will move onto your reserve years.
Whilst we appreciate people will have specific years they would prefer, we would ask that everyone bears in mind that the aim here is to raise all the funding for the club. Therefore, please do choose some reserve years, just in case, this then allows us to complete the allocation of every year, maximising the funding available to the club.
Each person making these donations will receive an Independent Wirral local business benefits card.
Independent Wirral have over 100 local independent businesses they support and promote.
These businesses offer a variety of benefits to card holders, from discounts on food in bars and restaurants to reduced prices in hotels. See their website for ever growing list of businesses (www.independentwirral.co.uk).
Special offer through Caldy CC for Independent Wirral
Through our unique partnership with Independent Wirral anyone making either the £100 or £25 donations to Caldy CC will receive
These cards are usually valid for 12 months, however through your donations to Caldy CC your card will be valid for double that time,
It must be remembered that Independent Wirral and their member businesses have pleaded their support after 12 months suffering through COVID-19, indeed, at the time we made our partner with them most businesses are still closed.
This partnership has been made for Independent Wirral to support a local cricket club trying to offer the best range of coaching and facilities to people within the community. We ask that by making a donation you not only support our club, but you drive business to the local businesses and inject COVID recovery to everyone on Wirral.
