Additional sessions
Our project aims to provide older adults in local care homes within the local community the opportunity to take part in walking football.
We are Caldicot Walking Football Club, founded in 2019. With 3 players at our first session, we are now a club of over 70 players with 5 sessions a week!
We have sessions for (almost) everybody! We have recreational turn up and play sessions for complete beginners who haven't previously played football and sport before. They also may be taking part purely for the exercise, meet new people and to improve their mental health. We also have competitive teams at 3 age groups, Ladies Over 40s, Men Over 50s and Men Over 60s. These teams compete in the Welsh League. Our coaches are UEFA qualified and very welcoming and experienced within local football.
Our sessions provide an opportunity for adults to take part in regular physical activity whilst meeting new people and improving their mental health. We hold regular social events for members which gives players an opportunity to socialise off the pitch.
We have 5 sessions a week, come and join us. Please email [email protected] to find out more or visit Caldicot Walking Football Club on Facebook.

Our club sits right in the heart of the community. Our sessions bring together adults from all across the County. They would never have previously met without our club, they have improved their social lives and make friends for life. We take part in local events with the Council to support the wider community and played a pivotal role during Covid with committee members shopping for the elderly. An example of this was at Christmas we did a John Hartson evening for football fanatics to attend, this was for the community and good exposure for the club too
We are crowdfunding to raise money for our new community project. Our project aims to provide older adults in local care homes within the local community the opportunity to take part in walking football. We will be hiring local community halls to provide the sessions to the care home residents. We are firm believers that sport is for everyone! Walking football is a growing sport and with our 70 members we have seen the impact this brilliant sport can have on people's physical and mental health. The sessions will be tailored to the less mobile but still giving them a taste of being active and the fantastic sport we love.

The money raised will go towards the venue hire of local community halls for us to deliver the sessions. The money raised will also be spent on additional training for our coaches and upskilling them with new courses that will help support the care home residents. We will also purchase new equipment for the sessions such as footballs, cones, bibs and anything else to make the sessions as interesting as possible for the participants.
