We did it
On 12th February 2016 we successfully raised £152,402 with 710 supporters in 28 days

1,000 businesses were flooded in Calder Valley on Boxing Day. This project is to help 103 of them to get back on their feet & smile again!

 New stretch target

Now we have raised more than the minimum £150,000, we aim to raise as much money as possible to help these businesses with their recovery. The next target is to hit £200,000. And with fantastic rewards on the page, we hope you will help. Every penny counts for our businesses at the moment.

The Christmas spirit was abruptly cut short in 2015 when massive floods burst the banks of the River Calder and the Calderdale Canal overflowed into streets and buildings on Boxing Day, creating chaos for thousands of householders and over 1,000 businesses. Retailers, industry and offices were all devastated.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us over the last 4 weeks, and as we're nearly at our initial £150k target, we decided to go all lovey dovey - hope you like our new pink logo & new rewards below.

How do I get involved?

  1. Please either choose one of the rewards to the right hand side of the screen.  Many of these products showcase our businesses and our beautiful region on the edge of the Pennines in West Yorkshire.  More details about the businesses we are supporting are further down this page.
  2. Or if you wish to make an immediate donation instead of a reward, please choose the £5 'thanks' pledge and you can amend the amount on the next screen.  Please tick the 'gift aid' box if you are a UK taxpayer.
  3. More rewards are being added every few days, so please come back and look again later.  Experiences, weekend breaks and more products will be added to this list once the current ones are sold out.
  4. And please share this campaign with your friends and family so we can spread the word!

The businesses involved in this campaign are generally family owned or independent small businesses. They are the lifeblood of our economy, our employers and the future for our children. They are retailers, engineers, transport companies, restaurants, cafes, professionals, tourist attractions and pubs. Typically thriving and vibrant towns, high streets, and industrial estates are now subdued. Their people are in shock and shattered. Business owners, in some cases, are facing months of repairs to rebuild their broken enterprises.

Read all their individual stories about what happened to them as a result of the floods by clicking here http://businessforcalderdale.co.uk/calderdalerising/

How does it work?

If this is the first time you have visited Crowdfunder, here’s how it works.

If you pledge money to us, and if enough of you do the same within the time limit, we will reach our target. Once we have reached our target your pledges will be debited from your account and the money sent to us, after fees. We will pay the businesses that have provided rewards, and then distribute the funds equally amongst the rest of the businesses involved, who are all being asked to share in promoting our campaign. The businesses can then use those funds to help them get back to full strength.  And we'll be in touch to arrange your reward or experience immediately afterwards.

All our rewards are products or 'money can't buy' experiences that are exclusive to Crowdfunder. Some are limited in availability and won’t be around forever.  Others will also be added in due course, so please come back and have a look again.

For the final few days of our campaign we wanted to say "We Love You" from all of us and maybe you'd like to buy something for your love from our selection below?

Please check to the right of the screen for latest rewards.
