The Cairngorms Trust, also known as the Cairngorms Local Action Group Trust SC046495, channel our funds into community-led projects or those showing
significant community benefit throughout the Cairngorms National Park. We are a grant-giving and fundraising charity with the Cairngorms at our heart.
We believe in the power of community. Every day, we work to make a
difference in the lives of those who need it most, right here in the
Cairngorms National Park.
The support we receive directly fuels
projects that protect this remarkable ecosystem and empower local communities. Here are some examples:
"Thanks to the support of the Cairngorms Trust Nature Resilience Fund and others, we’re able to bridge this gap by providing structured learning and mentoring support, investing in people to build our bumblebee knowledge"
~ Dr Richard Comont, Science Manager Bumblebee Conservation Trust
The Cairngorms Trust Path Maintenance project for the winter of 2022/23 was supporting the community of Braemar with the maintenance and enhancement of accessibility to the Society Bridge and surrounding path network.
As a result of this project being completed, the local community can be confident in the long-term future of the Society Bridge and associated paths. Having the bridge fall into serious disrepair resulting in closure for safety reasons would be extremely inconvenient for local families who use the route to access the school as well as dog walkers, walkers and tourists alike.
Investing in the next generation is key to securing the future of the Cairngorms. This fund supports educational programmes, outdoor activities and skill-building activities for young people. In 2022 to 2023 this fund supported 66 projects totalling £67,700.
Able2Adventure is a mobile outdoor activity provider for people of all ages and abilities based in the Cairngorms National Park. They offer both taster sessions and longer pathways into outdoor activities for SEN schools, disability organisations, disabled individuals, and disabled families.
With support from the Cairngorms Trust Community Led Vision Fund over the past season, Able 2 Adventure have reached over 350 disabled individuals who have been able to use the adaptive cycles and off-road wheelchairs. For almost each person there has been an improvement in their physical and mental health. The organisation has created partnerships that enable them to deliver regular sessions such as one with Alzheimer’s Scotland and Shinty memories.
Our Active Cairngorms E-bike project (ACE) helps promote sustainable transportation options in the area. By facilitating the use of electric bikes, we reduce carbon emissions, encourage active lifestyles, provide a cost-effective transport option for commuters and enable more people to explore the Cairngorms
while minimising their ecological footprint.
This project continues to run from Aviemore Bikes. This year the reach of the project will increase to include Blair Atholl, Tomintould and Glenlivit as well as Badenoch and Strathspey.
Thank you for your support!
