Cafe Unity is a community run cafe based in Heald Green, Manchester. Run by the community, for the community - Our main objective is tackling loneliness in the community, primarily but not exclusively the elderly. We have played an active role in the community for the past 17 years and have many thriving groups who would not have met without our help.

We all know somebody elderly who suffers from loneliness. It's more common than most realise. Sometimes just a small friendly hello and chat can change someone’s day for the better.
At Cafe Unity we want to fix that. Based in the center of Heald Green we aim to be a low cost resting point for the elderly. A warm, friendly environment for all, run by volunteers. Without being at Cafe Unity it is hard to describe the atmosphere - But basically no table is exclusive, conversations are held from table to table.
Sometimes just being in the cafe is enough to change somebodies mood, to feel included and wanted, to listen to others stories, to recommend help, advise or just listen to someone’s issues. This is what we are all about. We aren't here to turn huge profits selling drinks - The aim is to be as affordable as we can, just enough to stay open.
Every penny we earn helps us to achieve our goals - To reach as many lonely people as we can in the area and get them involved.
