Aim

Our incredible team is running the Swansea Half Marathon to fund life-changing support that helps people overcome hardship & move forward.

On 7th June, The CAE Dream Team will each run 13.1 miles.

But this is about more than a finish line.

Every step represents someone rebuilding their life, and the support it takes to get there.

Every day, we work with people navigating complex challenges, from financial hardship and displacement to isolation and limited access to opportunity.

What they share is not their starting point, but their potential.

For many, life has been shaped by uncertainty and barriers they did not choose.
The CAE exists to change that.

We are The CAE, a Swansea-based charity supporting communities to move from surviving to thriving.

Everything we do is grounded in The Welsh Dream: the belief that everyone, regardless of background, should have the opportunity to build a life, succeed, and contribute here in Wales.

💬 “When I was referred to The CAE, I felt completely lost. I had only been in Swansea for about a month and everything felt overwhelming. The uncertainty had really affected my confidence and I didn’t know where to start. From the first conversation, I felt something shift. I felt understood. I felt like someone actually saw me and cared about what I was going through. It felt like they were in my corner and they have been ever since. At first, I just wanted help finding work, but it became about much more than that. It became about starting again and rebuilding myself, and changing how I saw my situation. Step by step, I started to believe in myself again. Now I feel more confident, more stable, and more hopeful about my future. And most importantly, I don’t feel alone anymore”

Over the past 10 years, we have:

  • Supported 12,000+ individuals
  • Helped people move from crisis to stability, isolation to community, and uncertainty to opportunity
  • Supported access to employment, training, and entrepreneurship
  • Tackled poverty through our mobile foodbank and hardship support
  • Created a Community Enterprise Hub a safe, vibrant space for growth and connection

For every £1 invested in our work, we generate £9.44 in social value.

Demand for support is growing, while access to help is becoming more limited and systems are under increasing pressure.

At the same time, discourse does not always reflect the realities people are facing, often overlooking both the barriers individuals are navigating and the potential they hold.

This can make it harder for people to feel seen, supported, and able to move forward.

That’s why our work matters now more than ever.

And that’s why this campaign matters.

Our Dream Team of runners is stepping up to take on the Swansea Half Marathon.

Not as athletes.
Not for medals.

But to raise funds to keep this work going.

They are committing their time, energy, and discipline so others can access the support they need to move forward.

Each runner has their own story, motivation, and reason for being part of this.

Together, they are: professionals, community members and supporters of The CAE

And now… runners pushing themselves for something bigger.

Our runners:

  • Alys Carlton
  • Mitchell Kemish
  • Kim Mamhende
  • Sahil Bidla

-

Every contribution, no matter the size, plays a part in helping someone take their next step:

  • £10 could help provide essential food for half a week for a family facing immediate hardship
  • £20 could support a wellbeing session, reducing isolation and building connection
  • £50 could fund three hours of one-to-one support to access employment, training, or start a business
  • £100 could support a full pathway, from crisis to stability to opportunity

This isn’t abstract impact.

It’s real people, real lives, real change.

There are three simple ways to support:

1. Donate - Every contribution, big or small, makes a real difference.

2. Share - Help us reach more people by sharing this page.

3. Cheer - Join us on race day as we encourage our runners.

This is more than a run.

It’s about community.
It’s about opportunity.
It’s about giving people the chance to build a better future.

If you believe in that, support us.
