Sport England - Movement Fund has provided £8,973 of match funding
Raising funds to furnish Brighton's newly built youth centre and skatepark, providing equipment and facilities needed for young people here
We have been given a great matchfunding opportunity and have a target of £8,000 to reach. We're opening this crowdfunder in the hope of reaching that and doubling our funding.
Brighton Youth Centre has been at the heart of the city's youth support for over a century. October 2025 was our grand reopening after a huge regeneration project, transforming our 1960s building into a modern and accessible youth hub to serve young people for the next 100 years.
Grants from the government led Youth Investment Fund and Brighton & Hove City Council were given to us to fund the design and construction of the new building only. Now we're ready to get an amazing full program of activities, events and accessible spaces together for the city's youth, and we're looking for support so we can provide everything a great youth centre needs to function.
The skatepark has been a vital part of BYC for over 25 years and a cornerstone of our youth offer. It’s where thousands of young people have come to build confidence, find community, challenge themselves physically and mentally, and experience freedom and self-expression.
The money awarded was to fund the construction of the building only. Through fundraising we were able to do enough to get a functioning skatepark built in time for the new BYC's open day. We're now aiming to raise money to complete the build, including getting some additional obstacles in the park and setting up the new seating area to create a welcoming alternative space for people to relax in alongside the park.
They’re where young people discover who they are, build lifelong friendships, find trusted adults, and feel like they belong. In a world that often overlooks them, these spaces say: You matter. You have potential. You are part of something bigger.
By supporting BYC, you’re helping:
BYC is an independent charity and relies on the community to keep our doors open.
Established in 1917, Brighton Youth Centre is one of Brighton & Hove’s longest running and best-used youth services. BYC is a safe space where all young people have the freedom to be themselves, come together, learn from each other and challenge themselves to make a difference in their own lives and the lives of their community. We are an independent charity and largely self funded. We rely on donations to allow us to continue open our doors to young people every day and offer a wide range of activities, events and support.
