We are truly humbled by the support we have received since announced that we had made the difficult decision to delay the start of the Bodmin & Wenford Railway’s 2020 season until further notice, in light of the COVID-19 crisis.
As several members of our community asked how they could help, we decided to start a specific fundraising campaign to ensure that we can protect our team and our railway during this time, and get back on track and continuing welcoming visitors to our heritage railway in Cornwall once this challenge has passed.
One of the most direct ways you can support us is with a donation. As a small heritage tourism business and charity, we run solely on the income generated by ticket sales, catering and retail. Whether you're able to spare the equivalent of a coffee in our cafe or the cost of one Freedom of the Line ticket, or perhaps more, we're hugely grateful!
Please take care of yourselves and we look forward to seeing you all, hopefully before too long, back at the railway. We will need and rely on you all once again when the time comes to reopen the gates.
In the mean time, here's a film from happier times at the railway - the visit of Tornado to Bodmin back in 2017. It doesn't just show a great railway event, but highlights the brilliant team of staff and volunteers who make it happen, and how much the railway means to so many. Enjoy!
Other ways to donate
Whilst it would be great for all donations to be made here through Crowdfunder (as they have no cost, are easy to administer and can manage adding Gift Aid) we know that some of you would like to donate by BACS or send a cheque instead, so here are the details:
POST: Please send cheques made payable to Bodmin & Wenford Railway Trust to Bodmin & Wenford Railway, Bodmin General Station, Bodmin PL31 1AQ
BACS: Bodmin & Wenford Railway Trust, account number 00026654, sort code 40-52-40.
If you are making a donation using one of these methods, please consider completing and returning a Gift Aid form (available to download here) to make your donation go even further.
Other ways to show your support
Are you looking for other great ways to show the railway your support? You’ll find details about booking for events later in the year, buying gift vouchers, using our online shop or joining the Preservation society over on our website www.bodminrailway.co.uk.
What if more money is raised?
In this period of uncertainty, we really do need all the help we get. Any extra money raised gives us added security in these challenging times, and anything that is not used to support the railway through the COVID-19 crisis will go towards our ongoing work to preserve and share our railway heritage for years to come.
