After a ten year journey to improving our Sidley Community, and extensive consultation with the Community, we are thrilled that we have now successfully passed Planning to create a fully accessible, inclusive and vibrant community hub in the heart of Sidley.
The Hub will be a multipurpose facility providing a range of sporting, recreational and cultural activities. We will be redeveloping & upgrading the existing facilities at Sidley Recreation Ground, which are no longer fit for purpose.
This is what is currently on the site - Currently on the site there are NO public toilets! With a childrens playground, skatepark, BMX Track and football pitch on the site, with many users daily - this has to change!
We will be replacing this, with this!!
Our new Community Hub will be a 2-storey community hub that incorporates a café, fully accessible changing rooms & toilets, including a Changing Places facility, several venue spaces for hire for community groups, events & activities.
We’ll also be adding on-site car parking, including disabled spaces. There is currently NO car parking, meaning the street can become very congested for local residents when the pitch is being used.
In addition, we will upgrade the grass sports pitch to increase its usability for both professional & amateur sports teams, but in order to do all of this, WE NEED YOUR HELP!
We are proposing a “Buy a Brick” campaign, to help us furnish this amazing new building!
Individuals, families, and businesses can purchase “A Brick” and have a permanent connection to the community hub. You can also buy a brick in memory of someone who has a connection to Sidley or as a gift for someone else.
Support from the Community has been FANTASTIC, with our Facebook and Instagram going wild after our successful planning announcement, receiving HUNDREDS of positive messages of support and congratulations! Thank you all! Now we are asking you to support us further and consider "buying a brick" to help us turn our communities dream into reality!
