Aim

The Old Eglish Primary School is getting a clean up, starting with a paint and new flooring. This will be a space for all.

Bricks of History and Hope

Annaghmore/Eglish Regeneration has recently acquired the use of The Old Eglish School House. We have plans to create a community hub where everyone can use the school in a new and purposeful way.

Works have begun to give the school a new lease of life; fresh paint inside and new flooring. In order to get this completed we need the help of our community.

We are proposing a “Buy a Brick” campaign.  Individuals, families, and businesses can purchase “A Brick” and have a permanent connection within the school. You can also buy a brick in memory of someone who attended the school or as a gift for someone.

The school opened its doors in 1849, it is an integral part of our history and community. To have the building still in functioning condition is both a privilege and a benefit, however we do need to spend money initially to improve it.

In order to help get the building tidied up, we are asking local people and those with connections to The Old School to donate as below;

  • Individuals/Families £50 – Each donation will be acknowledged with a name plaque within the School
  • Businesses - £ donation to have a plaque and publicity of sponsorship

Soon, we hope to run classes, Information groups, coffee mornings, afternoon teas, cooking class, youth club and hire the space out for family gatherings, plus much more. We have already purchased some catering equipment and plan to access grants for the community to avail of lots of projects.

If you would like to buy a brick, we will have a donation table at Graveyard Mass on Sunday 12th June, where you can buy a brick or donate, (Cash, cheque or bank transfer accepted)

Thank you as always for all your support. We look forward to everyone being able to use the school for something in the future. If you would like to speak to someone about the project, please contact Andrea Littlemore – 07791643172 or Ethna Rickard – 07809228458 or Teresa McBennett - 07793227297
