The market towns of Newent, Ledbury and Ross-on-Wye, and their surrounding villages have been linked by regular bus services for over 70 years,
In February 2022 these services were withdrawn with only a few weeks' notice to the communities that rely on them.
This was very bad news:
- for people who rely on the services to live their lives.
- for businesses who rely on the services to bring staff and customers to them.
- for the climate as the cuts will force more people to travel by private car, increasing pollution and global warming.
Buses4Us is a community group set up to restore strong public transport links to our community and encourage people to choose the bus, for the sake of community and climate.
Step one on our journey is to provide a shopper bus service for the villages of Dymock, Gorsley and Kilcot. This will give people who now have no regular public transport services the opportunity to come into town twice a week to shop, access services and socialise.
We are aiming for a 3 month trial period to start. We have already gained financial support from Newent Town Council and local business sponsors.
We now looking to Crowdfunding through advance ticket sales to complete the funding and get the service running before Easter.
£3 buys a return ticket, valid for 3 months from the start date of the service. And obviously, if the service doesn't run, your money will be refunded.
Please buy a ticket and support us if you can!
