To raise the funds to allow the felling of at least 45 trees to improve the health and biodiversity of the remaining native trees.
In Burton on the Wolds we have an amazing resource which is our Burton fishpond plantation. This provides to all a green space to stroll and enjoy nature, sit on the bench and look at the view, learn about nature through the forest school run by the local primary school or just walk the dogs. It was purchased by Burton, Cotes and Prestwold Parish council many years ago with support of our local communities.
We have teams of volunteers who regularly help with essential maintenance, enabling us to continue providing a lovely green space where all are welcome.
Following the latest tree survey of the plantation, it has been found that within the next 12 months 45 trees within the plantation will need to be felled due to being in poor health or already dead.
Doing this will improve the biodiversity and health of the remaining native trees, hedgerows and pollinator-friendly plants.
This campaign is being launched today to help raise funds of £15,000 needed to allow safe management of the parish’s plantation of native trees, hedgerows, and pollinator-friendly plants and this will:
We need your help to raise these funds and ensure this valuable resource continues to provide: health, education and enjoyment to all.
