Burning the Clocks brings Brighton together to celebrate the winter solstice each year and has become a much loved tradition.

Burning the Clocks needs your help once again!
Help us ignite Brighton with an outpouring of passion, fun and fireworks to wish goodbye to the old year and usher in the new with a unique celebration of community and togetherness!
Every year on 21st December, the winter solstice, we produce this much-loved event in Brighton. Burning the Clocks combines a beautiful lantern procession through the streets of Brighton, with a spectacular fire and fireworks show, bringing the whole city together to celebrate and reflect on the past year.
Arts funding has become increasingly difficult to secure and with this in mind we decided to start crowdfunding in order to support the event each year.
Burning the Clocks receives no guaranteed funding. We rely on crowd funding and the support of local businesses to make sure Burning the Clocks can go ahead each year.
Burning the Clocks was created in 1993 as an antidote to the excesses of the commercial Christmas and as a way to celebrate the festive season regardless of faith, embracing our entire community. It brings people together from all ages and walks of life to celebrate our fantastically unique city and to share the things that bind us all.
Around 20,000 people now come to watch Burning the Clocks and around 2,000 people join us to take part in the lantern parade each year. Purchasing one of our packages not only allows you to be at the heart of this unforgettable event but also helps to make sure Burning the Clocks can return next year!

We are delighted to announce that the incredible Graham Carter has generously decided to support Burning the Clocks again for the 7th year running and has created another stunning limited edition print to go with this years theme 'Temps Perdu'.
Graham says 'As the theme this year is ‘remembrance’ I’ve tried to create an image that evokes ‘looking back’ and ‘coming together’. I envisaged a giant heart made up of individual elements that might carry resonance for someone, be it a treasured memory, a celebration or a message to a lost loved one.
Visually I thought it would be fun to incorporate photographic imagery from Brighton's past, so the eagle-eyed might spot a few recognisable things in the mix. Continuing this theme I’ve brought in a few special guests from previous years’ prints too. (As a side note, the 2 x birds and tree are there in memory of the two girls who tragically lost their lives in Moulscoombe 30 years ago.)'
This beautiful print is available to purchase here on our crowfunder page and the proceeds from each sale goes towards Burning the Clocks. We aim to have your print delivered in time for Christmas and will post via courier by the 19th December 2018.
