Baby boutique that makes a difference! As well as slings, cloth nappies + accessories, we will be showcasing local WAHM products + much more

WE'RE HERE, TELL US ABOUT YOUR IDEA...

So, my name is Helen and I am a mum of two boys, 9 and 3 years old. I have been babywearing since the birth of my second child, and about a year ago started to run my own sling library to help other parents carry their children with confidence. This quickly led to people wanting to buy their own slings, so I went into retail, selling slings to my local mums and dads, before realising I could do this on a wider scale! I know the value of getting good fitting advice along with your sling, and so using the contacts I have built up over the years I will work alongside sling libraries all over the UK to ensure that you get good fitting advice and support, signposting people to their local libraries, and offering good discounts to sling libraries to allow them to offer a try-before-you-buy option so people can be sure they are buying the right sling! I will also organise tester tours – slings that travel around the various sling libraries so even the libraries get to try-before-they-buy! Special discount codes to be given to clients by sling libraries, to encourage clients to visit their local sling library and try first, to find the right sling for them! The use of the discount code will also give the sling library a gift card after so many uses to enable them to add more slings to their stock.

Cloth nappies fit really nicely alongside this, I have monthly meets with my local nappy library so a one-stop-shop for your slings, nappies and accessories works well! I then thought about who else I could help – and instantly thought of my local work-at-home-mums (WAHMs) who make such wonderful products but have a limited reach – by selling them on my website they can reach a wider audience and more people can see just how great they are! Products including necklaces, baby clothing, bibs, carrier suck pads, teething products, legwarmers, sling mirrors, handknits, etc etc! I want to help them to grow, to provide for their families, and continuing doing what they love!

With a focus on the benefits of babywearing, sustainability of using slings and nappies, and shopping small to help put money into the pockets of individuals rather than the big corporations!

WHAT WILL YOU SELL?

All products will be handpicked to offer a selection of quality, trustworthy products that work!  All slings will be safety tested, ergonomic, and from brands I trust, many have been designed by - or with the help of - babywearing consultants, and all will adhere to strict safety standards. Brands will include Mamaruga, Joy and Joe, Integra, Kahubaby, Calin Bleu, Izmi, Close Caboo, Tula, Boba, Beco, Meliapis, Neko, Ergobaby, to mention a few!

The same with nappies – comfortable, won't leak, easy to use, recommended by nappy libraries and parents alike! Brands will include Close, TotsBots, Grovia, BumGenius, Little Lamb….

Accessories: useful items to support babywearing and nappy use – suck pads, legwarmers, sling mirrors, handknits, teething products, baby clothing, bibs, breast pads, wet bags, and also proud to be stocking genuine Slingamebobs!

HOW CAN WE HELP?

I am 100% committed to getting this project off the ground, the initial setup will be very expensive to start – so I am crowdfunding for £2,000 to cover the initial costs of:

WHAT IS YOUR VISION?

The BIG DREAM of course is to be able to do this full time – alongside running my sling library and bringing up my children – to promote and advocate the benefits of babywearing and cloth nappy using, to keep working with more amazing sling and nappy libraries and parents. To continuously expand my product range and to help more and more WAHMs hit the big time, to enable me to help others to grow!

One day I will open a real life shop, and eventually to have a Bundle Of Love parenting hub in every city: not only offering the usual retail stock but also working with local WAHMs, hosting baby groups, offering consultations and workshops, enabling local sling and nappy libraries to hold meets – and so much more! 

If an amazing thing happens and we EXCEED the target, each and every penny will go towards all of the above – increasing the range of brands we are able to offer, as well as supporting more WAHMs by stocking more of their products!
