Aim
Raising funds for the next phase of production, growing this theatre project with collaborators.
The epoch of capitalism is over. The new epoch is yet to come. We are in a murky borderland between history and myth, a transitional, political and ambiguous space. This is the landscape of Bullwoman – the Dreaming, a visually theatrical work.
Three intersecting realms, one huge tale of insects, animals and humans. Meet the comic-tragic duo Spider and Fly, insect survivors adrift in a cello, small fry narrating an epic story, awaiting rescue. Fly conjures up a land of logic and rules, wherein the wild and the dreaming have been oppressed. He tells of a queen banished to that liminal place between the no longer and the not yet, at the heart of a world turned upside down. She must slowly feel her way through. After much time, transformation gives rise to the alchemical insect Bullwoman. Will she, and her stocky Bullpeople blaze a fresh trail of regeneration and renewal?
This is an odyssey that requires a letting go of logic and rules, for a while, reclaiming the right to dream. It is a work of theatre, with transformative costume, film and shadowplay, movement, sound and light.
