Aim

Please help us achieve our goal to provide desperately needed additional teaching space for the children at Bradworthy Primary Academy.

What is the problem?

Bradworthy Primary Academy is facing a growing demand for places which has resulted in some uncomfortably large class sizes which are having a detrimental effect on the children. The closure in recent years of several other nearby schools has meant that the school's catchment area has grown significantly. Our school is in desperate need of increasing the available teaching space in order to adequately accommodate the number of children on the roll and this means that new classroom areas need to be constructed.

The current situation, where we are being asked to partially re-open the school amidst the COVID-19 outbreak with appropriate social distancing, has only served to emphasise the lack of space in the school!

What is the solution?

We have been working hard with creative plans which will enable us to effectively and efficiently add new teaching spaces to the existing school layout to combat the overcrowding.

Having exhausted many avenues to fund this project, we have decided to be pro-active and raise the money ourselves and as such have embarked on lots of fund-raising events and ventures. To achieve our goals, we need your help to raise the funds that we require to build our future.

The completion of this project will allow the school to serve our local, rural community much better than it can at present & this includes the children from nearby villages whose schools have been closed in recent years & who now form part of the school's catchment area.

What will we do?

Since the new teaching areas will be purpose-built, they will need to be completely fitted out, so any money that we raise from this campaign will be used to pay for all the things that we will need to make the new classrooms come alive: plastering, paint, carpeting, radiators, sinks, desks, chairs, tables, storage cupboards, storage trays, shelving, wall display boards, white boards and audio visual screens.

Who will benefit?

All the pupils currently in the school (over 200) will directly benefit from this project, but it will also benefit future pupils coming through the school in the years to come. It will benefit the school's teaching & support staff & will have an indirect effect on the wider community whose children are served by this school.

Our local community

The local community is very supportive of the school which has strong, positive relationships with the church, the parish council, its neighbours, local businesses & of course the parents of the children. The local community is extremely supportive because the better the educational environment is for its children now, the better prepared they will be to contribute to the adult community in the future.
