Aim

Support our project to improve equipment storage and create a new community hub that will benefit grassroots football for years to come.

Who are we?

Llay Miners Welfare FC has been at the heart of our community since 1931. We’re a volunteer-led football club providing opportunities for players of all ages, from our youngest children taking their first kick of a ball through to our senior men’s teams.

Our club is about far more than football. We provide a safe, welcoming environment where children can learn, develop confidence, make lifelong friends and be part of something special. As we continue to grow, so does the demand for better facilities and equipment.

Why are we crowdfunding?

Our club has grown rapidly, but our facilities haven’t kept pace.

We’re raising £20,000 to create secure equipment storage and transform one of our shipping containers into a modern community hub that will benefit players, volunteers and the wider community.

The project will allow us to:

• Purchase essential pitch maintenance and marking equipment.
• Create secure storage for football equipment.
• Renovate our shipping container into a community hub.
• Provide a space for junior teams during tournaments and holiday camps.
• Create a base for volunteers and officials on senior matchdays.

These improvements will benefit hundreds of local children and adults every week while helping safeguard the future of grassroots football in Llay.

How we’ll spend the money raised

Every penny raised will be invested back into improving facilities for our club and community.

Our target of £20,000 will help fund:

• Container renovation – insulation, electrics, flooring, cladding, windows, doors and internal fit-out.
• Secure equipment storage – shelving, storage systems and security improvements.
• Pitch maintenance equipment – line marking machine, marking paint and maintenance tools.
• Furniture & community facilities – seating, worktops, tables and equipment for community use.
• Electrical installation and finishing works to make the hub safe and usable all year round.

Any additional funds raised will be reinvested into improving facilities and equipment for our players.

Community impact

This project will improve facilities across two locations, creating lasting benefits for Llay School, Llay Miners Welfare FC and the wider community.

At Llay School, improved equipment storage will support the relocation of our growing youth section, giving children a dedicated place to train while leaving the school with improved facilities and equipment that will also benefit pupils during the school day.

At The Ring, our renovated shipping container will become a community hub supporting senior matchdays, youth tournaments, holiday camps and club events. It will provide secure storage, a welcoming base for volunteers and officials, and a safe indoor space for players, families and visitors throughout the year.

By investing in both sites, we’re strengthening grassroots football in Llay while creating facilities that will benefit hundreds of local children and the wider community for many years to come.
