I'm interested in how 5th-6th century migration occurred over the North Sea and the boats worthiness to sustain travel over several days or a week at sea. Are the boat building methods similar to anything found on the continent at that time? Are later viking period boats markedly different? How do boats sail into the prevailing winds?
