Aim

Newtongrange petanque club is only 3 years old but has grown steadily in a short time. We now have 54 members and need more space for them.

  • Who are we?

Newtongrange Petanque Club started with 4 local guys who had a vision to create a club accessible to all regardless of race, religion, political beliefs, sexual orientation or disability. A club open to all playing a sport that is accessible to all. We started with nothing playing on the old bowling green. We advertised when we met and sure enough curiousity brought others. We then secured funding via local councillors to build a piste adjacent to the old bowling green and our club was born attracting 50 members making us the largest club in Scotland at the time. We now have 54 members and are growing weekly therefore need to extend our playing area. We have earmarked the old bowling green to build at least another 10 lanes of playing surface which will cost in the region of £15000. We have achieved the first £5000 through fundraising but need considerably more to see the project through to completion.

How we’ll spend the money raised

It’s important to be transparent about how you plan to spend the money you raise. Your audience will be more likely to make a pledge if they can see how their donation will help. Be specific and add a budget breakdown.

Community impact

It’s important to explain the wider impact of your organisation for the whole community, who does it benefit and why? Perhaps your facilities are used for other purposes outside of sport too?

How you can play your part

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.

1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!

2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.

3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!

4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!

Our club has grown from humble beginnings to one of the biggest in Scotland, our teams are regularly contesting at the business end of national competitions. We have had teams representing Scotland in the home nations tournament for 3 years running and the Celtic challenge tournament this year. We also have individuals selected to represent Scotland in the world, European and veterans championships. This year NPC won the Euro Cup qualifier to represent Scotland in the euro cup in France. Our membership growth means we need additional pistes to accommodate everyone on club days and to attract national and international competitions which in turn will bring economic benefits to the community. This is big and would certainly put Newtongrange on the map but our potential growth comes at a cost, it's envisaged that the cost of this development would be in the region of £15,000 hence the reason for this crowd funder. We are looking at all avenues for fundraising and hopefully you will see the benefits of this development, thank you so much for your donation.
