18th January 2016Six days in and we've nearly hit 15% of our target.
Those of you that live near or on Kingston Road, or have walked alongside it, will be very aware of the constant sound, the repetitive harr harr harrr of the passing of car after car. Fair enough... it's a road.
But as we've seen research and initiatives acoss the country to reduce road accdents, and research and initiatives across the country to enhance well-being near roads, with initiatives to slow town-centre driving to 20mph, others to stop rat runs through towns and villages, others to create "shared Spaces" (like Cliffe High), it feels that having a 40mph limit on a busy approach residential road in Lewes is like living back in the 70's before the research and initiatives ever happened. It's, let's face it, a bit backward. A bit past its time.
Time to bring Kingston Road back into the 21st century, where cars are no longer king, but cyclists, walkers, children, babies in buggies, dog walkers, ramblers, and all users are valued and have their experience of a journey enhanced and made safe.
We're very, very grateful to all you backers. It's very exciting to be nudging toward our goal and toward a safer way of living.
Keep pledging please!
