Aim

Buckminster CC’s pavilion roof is failing. Help us fix it now so village cricket – for juniors, women and families – can survive and thrive!

Who are we?

Buckminster Cricket Club has been at the heart of village life for over 140 years. Nestled in the Leicestershire countryside on the Lincolnshire border, we're a family club playing in Division 2 of the Grantham & Melton Cricket Association — and proud 2013 league champions

But we're far more than a cricket team. We're a community hub where families gather on summer evenings, children discover a love of sport, and friendships are built across generations. We're actively growing women's cricket, junior coaching for over 60 children aged 5–16, and opening our doors to players of all backgrounds, abilities and ethnicities.

We're backed by an incredible team of volunteers, the support of our local MP Edward Argar, Councillor David Chubb, and our newly appointed Vice-President — former England and Warwickshire fast bowler Tim Munton.

Why are we crowdfunding?

Our beloved pavilion roof is failing. Despite years of patch repairs, it continues to leak — causing damp, damaging recently renovated interiors, and threatening the structural integrity of the building. A professional assessment has confirmed that a full roof replacement is the only viable option.

Without action now, the pavilion becomes unsafe. Junior coaching stops. Women's cricket plans stall. Match-day teas — a lifeline for our older members — come to an end. The community loses its only gathering place.

Sport England believe in what we're doing. They've offered us £6,300 through their Movement Fund — but only if we can crowdfund the rest. That's why we're here. This campaign is our chance to unlock that funding and save our club's home.

The total cost of the roof replacement is £12,600. With Sport England's £6,300 pledged, we need to raise the remaining £6,300 from the community and beyond. Every pound you pledge brings us closer — and unlocks the matched funding that makes it all possible.

On top of that, we want to grow the women's and girl's sections of our club, so any additional funding on top of what we raise to the roof will be put into making our facilities more welcoming to a mixed gender club.

How we’ll spend the money raised

Community impact

Buckminster CC isn't just a cricket club — it's the beating heart of a small rural village. Our pavilion hosts:

  • Junior coaching for over 60 children aged 5–16

  • Women's and girls' cricket — a programme we're actively building to break down barriers in sport

  • Match-day teas and social events — for many of our older members, this is their main social outing of the week

  • Community gatherings — from charity events to family celebrations

We're on a mission to become a truly inclusive club — welcoming people of all genders, ages, ethnicities and abilities. The pavilion is the foundation of everything we do. Without it, none of this happens.

As Edward Argar MP said after visiting our ground: "Local village cricket clubs like Buckminster CC bring huge value to our communities. I will certainly be batting for Buckminster."
