Aim
Improving the surface of the Buckley Cricket Club car park for smooth, accessible, and easy parking for club users today and in future.
Who are we?
Buckley Cricket Club (BCC) has a large, vibrant, diverse community. The club aims to offer everyone, especially young people, a safe, welcoming, and inclusive space to socialise and develop. BCC fields first, second, and third eleven seniors teams, two ladies’ teams, a midweek team, under 15, under 13, under 11, and under 9 teams, and runs a highly successful All Stars programme (5-8 years old).
Why are we crowdfunding?
Our current car park is lumpy, bumpy, and hasn't kept pace with the increasing number of members and visitors using the club. It desperately needs resurfacing; its current poor condition makes parking a frustrating experience for everyone.
A new, even surface will allow for more efficient use of the available space, making it easier for everyone to enjoy the club facilities. Crucially, a smooth and accessible car park will ensure that members and guests with mobility challenges can navigate and use our facilities with far greater ease and safety.
Buckley CC has recently been accredited as an ECB Disability Champion Club and investing in this upgrade is a hugely important part of Buckley CC's commitment to inclusivity and accessibility for our community.
How we’ll spend the money raised
Your investment will fund the resurfacing of the entire car park, laying a durable, even surface to eliminate potholes, bumps, lumps, and dust, making parking straightforward. We'll implement clear markings for efficient space use and easy navigation, including clearly marked accessible spaces and easy transitions to the clubhouse and pitch, guaranteeing safe and easy access for everyone.
As part of the resurfacing, the club will designate parking spaces for disabled users and for parents with children, benefiting members and visitors.
Community impact
This project will significantly enhance the Buckley CC community by providing access to a safer, more accessible cricket club. Improved parking will ease local traffic flow and reduce congestion during events, benefiting club users, as well as local Buckley residents directly. Our intention is to foster a more welcoming environment for, especially for new participants.
The club has over 140 active members. This increases rapidly when including friends and family of members. Users of the BCC clubhouse represent a significant portion of its community and partners, such as Buckley Hockey Club, Buckley Badminton Club, Buckley Military Vets, Buckley Junior Football Club, Bistre Scout Group, Mountain Lane School, and others.
