255 years in one home, Broadwater Cricket Club is Worthing's oldest. Help us update and maintain the only public cricket facility in town.
255 years of history, playing cricket in the same location on Broadwater Green, Worthing.
Broadwater Cricket Club is a sociable club, centred in inclusivity, community spirit and giving opportunities to all.
With three Saturday teams, a Sunday friendly XI and a midweek T20 side at senior level and a thriving junior section currently fielding teams at three age groups (Under 12, Under 13 and Under 14), Broadwater Cricket Club is truly a community club which prides itself on competition, enjoyment of the sport and the social element of being part of a club.
We play on the beautiful Broadwater Green which is public land and rely on hoards of volunteers for everything we do as a club so every penny matters to us just to be able to continue functioning and serving our brilliant members and the local community.
As a community club which plays its cricket on a public pitch, we are proud to have the only public cricket net in Worthing. The single net on Broadwater Green isn't just for the club, it's for all.
However, with that comes our dilemma. The surface is old and needs replacing, the net itself has come loose and no longer serves the purpose it's intended to.
The club is going nowhere. We work closely with Worthing Borough Council on all matters Broadwater Green and while we have a great relationship which has helped to give the pavilion a facelift this summer, their support can only stretch so far. A small grant from the council has helped the club buy some new equipment which will help to secure the cricket square amongst other things, but our most pressing matter is keeping the facilities in good shape for our many members and for you, the public, to enjoy.

The current net facility is 11 years old and the surface is very damaged. With your help, we would love to replace the surface and add a new net to cover the frame and keep the only public cricket facility in the whole town available to all.
There is barely a day goes by across the warmer months where you don't see children and adults from our local community using the nets and it forms a vital part of what makes Broadwater so special.
If we manage to raise enough, any remaining funds will be spent on the pavilion space and keeping that in the best possible shape too.

Transforming this space would have a huge impact on so many people. For our club it provides training facilities to meet the needs of both our three senior league sides and wider members but also future-proofs a facility for our junior ranks for at least the next decade and beyond, helping to continue the amazing work our volunteers have done to reignite Broadwater Cricket Club from the roots up over the last few years.
And finally, the community impact is even greater. As the only public cricket net in Worthing, you'd be supporting a space for all. A space where people can get out in the fresh air, enjoy sport and exercise and keep Broadwater Green as a place which is the heart of the community.
