Let’s get an Urban Nature Map into EVERY school in Bristol!
Let’s get an Urban Nature Map into EVERY school in Bristol!
We will create a beautiful map of Bristol’s green spaces to inspire connection, climate care, and help put nearby nature in everyday lives.
Thank YOU! We were successful and have started planning our autumn workshops in Bristol to make this a fantastic resource for the city.

Urban Good is a registered, not-for-profit Community Interest Company that creates Urban Nature Maps for cities. We’ve already published successful maps for London, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Amsterdam. Our mission is simple: to inspire people to explore, value and protect the nature on their doorstep.

To help us raise some money for a Bristol Urban Nature Map – we have created some beautiful, limited edition, fine art prints of Bristol. But we can also offer a saving if you just pledge to buy the Urban Nature Map now, and we will post it for free when it's ready!
Since January, we’ve been researching and drawing the Bristol Urban Nature map. Now, we are ready to test it and enrich it with local knowledge. This project is not just about printing maps. It’s about inspiring people, building connections, and helping Bristol become a healthier, greener, more climate-conscious city. This is climate action: helping people experience and value nature more often builds a deeper culture of care for our urban environment, and makes climate resilience part of daily life.

With your help, we’ll bring the first edition of the Bristol Urban Nature Map to life. Your support will allow us to:
1. Host workshops this autumn with local groups to enrich the map further and co-create the content for the reverse side, showcasing stories of climate action, nature restoration and community projects across the city.
2. Pay to print the large-format, high-quality map of Bristol’s green infrastructure. We are aiming for 3,000 copies to start.
3. For each pledge we will donate a free copy to a Bristol school geography department.
Without this funding, we won’t be able to donate maps to schools or fully run our autumn workshops. Your support means this work can reach much further and have lasting value.

Here’s where your donations will go:
Printing costs for the first edition map (full colour, card protective cover, Pantone spot colours, 1270 x 950mm, printed by Dennis Maps in Frome)
School donations: one free map for every copy bought
Autumn 2025 workshops: venue hire, travel, facilitation and materials
Packaging and posting your rewards
Pre-press costs
Outreach and partnership building
We want to be fully transparent: every pound raised directly supports delivering this work and enabling Bristol’s Urban Nature Map to succeed.

Pre-order the Urban Nature map and save (we expect to ship the Bristol Urban Nature Map before Christmas). Save even more with a bundle of maps.
A limited run of flat Bristol Urban Nature map posters – unfolded versions for your wall. We limit these to 100 as they come off the press. Signed, numbered and stamped.

Limited Edition, fine art prints: "This Place Then". These beautiful historic maps of Bristol are overprinted with new details, revealing how the landscape has changed. Printed locally, signed, stamped and dated, archival quality, designed to look great on walls.

This table shows all the reward tiers and what the extra impact of your donation enables us to do. PLEASE SELECT A REWARD INSTEAD OF JUST DONATING, then we can send you a map!

There are three simple ways to get involved and support our project:
1. Buy a map!
We have worked really hard to create beautiful rewards at all donation levels. Please have a look and select one if you can.
2. Spread the word
Share our project with friends, family and your wider network. The more people we reach, the more likely we are to succeed.
3. Get involved in the autumn workshops.
If you’d like to get involved, we’d love to hear from you. Please get in touch through the ‘Contact’ section using the subject "Bristol Urban Nature workshops" on our project page.

Who are Urban Good? Are you a real organisation?
Yes. Urban Good CIC is a registered, not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC). We exist to support environmental and social projects through beautiful, useful mapping. All profits are reinvested into our mission.
Have you done this before? Is this risky?
We’ve already successfully produced Urban Nature Maps for London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle and Amsterdam — printing thousands of copies and delivering them worldwide. We have a trusted UK printing partner (Dennis Maps in Frome) and extensive experience delivering projects like this on time.
When will I receive my reward?
Bristol Urban Nature Map (folded edition): We plan to print and ship these in January 2026 — a great start to the year.
Fine Art Prints (This Place Then): We plan to print and ship these at the end of this crowdfunder (September 2025) so you’ll receive them well ahead of gifting season.
Workshops: Our co-creation workshops will take place across September and October 2025.
What is special about the Fine Art Prints?
"This Place Then" overlay modern map data with georeferenced high definition scans of older maps. They are boldly coloured giclée prints, archival quality, on high-quality acid-free paper designed to last over 100 years. They are signed, stamped, dated and printed locally by Niche Frames. Map Editions Ltd created these maps for the crowdfunder. These are exclusive to this crowdfunder for now – so grab one before the limited editions run out!
Can I frame my Fine Art Print?
Please do get in touch before the end of the crowdfunder, as Niche can organise your framing too and you can collect locally. [email protected]
How big are the maps?
The Bristol Urban Nature Map is a folded, 1270 x 950mm map, printed on durable, high-quality paper with Pantone spot colours — similar in format to an OS Explorer map, but much richer in colour and content.
The Fine Art Prints are large prints suitable for framing (exact dimensions listed in the reward tiers). There are two A2 prints and one A1.
What happens if you don’t reach your funding target?
Your pledge is completely safe. If we don’t reach our goal, you will receive a full refund. Without the funding, we won’t be able to run the full programme of workshops, but no one will lose money.
Why are you donating maps to schools?
For every map bought, we donate one to a Bristol school geography department. It’s part of our commitment to connect young people with the nature around them and help schools access high-quality, place-based resources.
Can I gift a reward to someone else?
Yes! You can pledge for multiple rewards and gift them to friends, family, schools, or organisations. Just let us know during checkout or email us directly if you need assistance.
Can organisations or schools get involved?
Absolutely. We’re keen to work with schools, community groups, youth organisations, conservation charities and local partners. Please get in touch if you’d like to be involved in the autumn workshops or future editions. [email protected]
Who is printing the folded Urban Nature maps?
We have worked with Dennis Maps in Frome, Somerset for 8 years. They are one of the world's leading specialist map printers, who we’ve worked with on multiple successful map projects.
