Bristol Women's Voice is working with Imogen Donegan, a Northern Irish artist living in Bristol, to create a powerful and engaging mural on the People's Republic of Stokescroft (PRSC) outdoor gallery.
Throughout 2024, we asked women and people to tell us what acts of resistance (big or small) they did against sexism, patriarchy and gender norms on a regular basis. These were then put into colourful pouches and hung up to create a "tree of resistance".
Some of acts of resistance illustrated include:
- Teaching myself about feminism and educating my friends
- Chosen family, smiling at other women, and dismantling ageism
- Encouraging my daughter to speak up, use her voice and be confident and brave
- Enhancing the visibility of my queer relationship in public
- Not shaving my body hair and taking up space
This beautiful mural will feature on the People's Republic of Stokescroft (PRSC) outdoor gallery for all of March 2025!
We need your help to cover the costs of:
- paint
- Imogen Donegal's work to make our vision a reality
- the mural rental (PRSC is an artists collective and community group)
- cover some of our charity's time
Any size donations is welcome!
