New stretch target

The more money we raise the more street pianos we'll be able to install.  Any pianos that are still in good working order at the end of the project will be donated to charities or community groups.

This summer Hand in Glove are planning to bring Bristol based artist Luke Jerram's internationally successful street piano project Play Me, I'm Yours to Bristol, but we need your help to fund it!

We're looking for donations big or small so that we can fill the streets and public spaces of Bristol with music and creativity this summer.  Decorated street pianos will be located in publicly accessible sites across the city, for everyone to play and enjoy for free, for three weeks from Thursday 17 August - Thursday 7 September 2017.

We’ve just had some wonderful news. Play Me, I'm Yours Bristol 2017 has been approved for funding through the Artists + The Crowd match funding.  This means that Arts Council England will match the pledges you make and your donation will go twice as far.

Whether you want to play a piano in public, come across impromptu performances as you wander around town or take a break at lunchtime, there are loads of ways to get involved!

You might plan to play all of the street pianos in one day - or simply to check out the the amazing artwork created specially for this project by some of Bristol's best artists.

Take a look at this video from Munich back in 2013 for some inspiration!

We are aiming to install a minimum of 15 decorated street pianos across the city, but the more money we raise, the more street pianos we'll be able to provide.

The money raised via this campaign is going to be spent on a range of things including:

- buying, collecting, storing, delivering and installing pianos
- commissioning Bristol artists to decorate the pianos
- project management costs and insurance
- regular piano tuning and maintenance
- publicity & marketing, inc producing a printed map and setting up a website where people can share their photos, videos and comments.

At the end of the project, where possible, the pianos will be donated to charities and not-for-profits and community groups.  We also hope that one or two will remain in their locations for people to play and enjoy beyond the main three week presentation.

For example if you donate:

£50 this will cover the costs of having one street piano tuned once during the presentation
£100 will pay for a bespoke piano bench to be made that is suitable for duets
£500 will pay for a Bristol artist to decorate one street piano

£3,500 will cover all the costs for installing and maintaining one street pianos, and in return donors at this level will have a say in where their street piano will be located, be able to arrange special events and performances, and at the end of the project  either keep or donate the piano to their chosen charity or community group.

Touring internationally since 2008, Play Me, I’m Yours is an artwork by Bristol based artist Luke Jerram, who was also behind the hugely succesful waterslide on Park Street back in 2014.  Luke's street pianos project has already reached over 10 million people worldwide, with more than 1,700 street pianos have already been installed in over 55 cities across the globe, from London to New York, bearing the simple instruction Play Me, I’m Yours.

Located on streets, in public parks, markets and train stations the pianos are available for everyone to play and enjoy. Play Me, I’m Yours invites the public to engage with, activate and take ownership of their urban environment. Decorated by local artists, our street pianos create a place of exchange and an opportunity for people to connect.  To see highlights of previous Play Me, I'm Yours presentations across the globe visit
