Sport Northern Ireland: Creating Opportunities has provided £2,500 of match funding
We are aiming to deliver a structured after-schools Hurling and Camogie coaching programme for primary schools in our local area.
Craobh Rua Camlocha Hurling & Camogie Club is at the heart of our local community, providing children and young people with opportunities to be active, build confidence, and develop teamwork and social skills. The club offers a safe, inclusive environment that promotes physical and mental wellbeing while strengthening community connections and pride in our sporting traditions. In recent years, our Camogie section has experienced strong growth, highlighting increasing interest from girls and families and the need to support this momentum through early engagement.
This project aims to address inequalities in access to Hurling and Camogie, particularly for primary school girls who often have fewer opportunities to develop skills at a young age. By delivering after-schools coaching across eight local primary schools, we will provide equal access to quality coaching for all children, regardless of experience. A strong focus will be placed on encouraging girls to participate, building confidence and skills, and creating a clear pathway into our growing Camogie section.
We are crowdfunding to deliver a structured after-schools Hurling and Camogie programme in eight primary schools. The total project cost is £5,000, covering coaching, equipment, and delivery costs. We aim to raise 50% (£2,500) through crowdfunding, with the remaining 50% from funders. This funding is essential to ensure the programme is accessible, sustainable, and impactful.
Funds will be used for qualified coaching, essential equipment (hurleys, helmets, sliotars), programme coordination, and supporting the transition of children—especially girls—from school sessions into club participation.
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
